We have small classes of around 6 children, aged 2 years and upwards.  This gives us the opportunity to address each child's different ability and needs.

                                            What do we do in the classes?

We all learn by using mainly three different senses:  Visually (seeing), auditory (hearing) and kinaesthetically ( doing).
Most schools are now recognising that children use especially the kinaesthetic and visual senses.
Our programme uses easy and fun songs, games, stories and activities which is based on using all of these senses to maximise your child's potential.

Using puppets, games and songs, we help your child to learn:

·       how to recognise his/ her name in print

·       recognise most or all letters of the alphabet and know their sounds

·       Fingerspell the letters he/ she knows

·       start to blend some 3 letter words such as 'hat',   'bus', 'pig'.

·       Turn taking, listening and sharing skills

·       Learn to recognise colours

·       Build up their verbal vocabulary and confidence


These skills are very important to help the child settle easily into the school environment and will give him/ her a head start.

·       Alphabet word puzzle

·       Laminated letters for playing games at home

·       Your own record sheet to chart your child’s progress

This programme was developed to help meet Government Standards for Literacy as set out in the Early Years Foundation guidelines.   It can be used as a foundation for any phonics programme in use in your child's school.
